REVIEW : Jetpack Vacation (PC)

Designed for all ages as a pick-up-and-play virtual reality (VR) jetpacking games. Players will be able to fly, dive, and shoot their way through a variety of mini-games – or excursions as Tourism Infinity likes to call them – using a pair of handheld jetpacks, including Target Practice, Jetpack Soccer, and Jetpack shooting.

REVIEW : Jetpack Vacation (PC)

Target Practice is a single-player and multiplayer game in which players race across a tropical island shooting as many targets as they can in order to score the most points. Jetpack Soccer is a faster and more furious version of the sport, while Jetpack Racing requires players to fly through a constantly changing obstacle course. Alternatively, take it easy and explore the sunny paradise with those handy jetpack hands, which will lead you to a plethora of classic locations and hidden passageways.

I expected there to be more to it. You have a small island to fly about on and three mini games to play. There’s a shooting range with a haphazard collection of targets. It would have been more fun if there was a strategy to the chaos, but all you do is choose a direction and fly around shooting fixed targets that change colours when you strike them. It’s not bad, but after finishing it, I didn’t feel compelled to try it again.

Then there’s some online football/soccer (depending on where you are in the world, I think), which fell flat for me. My pals don’t have the game, and there didn’t appear to be any other gamers waiting either.

REVIEW : Jetpack Vacation (PC)

Jetpack Vacation presently contains a main hub area where you can explore and gather coins, as well as a multiplayer only game based on the Rocket League, a target practise mini-game, and an experimental WIP obstacle course racing mini-game (Fall Guys inspired). Jetpack Vacation’s current issue is that it lacks a playerbase and also need additional content.

I did, however, enjoy playing the mini-game inspired by Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. It was enjoyable to play alone, but I can only image how much more enjoyable it would be to race against other gamers online. If they focused on this WIP, I believe Jetpack Vacation might have a killer app mini-game to attract more people.

REVIEW : Jetpack Vacation (PC)

The last is an obstacle course that is currently being built. It’s a shame, because this was by far the most enjoyable aspect of the game. You fly through a maze of spinning wheels, fan blades, bouncing balls, and other obstacles. Flying is enjoyable in and of itself. You can pick up boosts to help you fly a little quicker, but they never seem to provide you much of an advantage. Overall, turning and movement are well-implemented, with no instances of motion sickness.
