REVIEW : Journey of the Broken Circle (PC)
The journey of the broken circle is an indie adventure game, developed by Lovable Hat Cult and published Nakana.io, Nakana Sp. z o.o., Lovable Hat Cult. The game was released on 18 September 2020 on various platforms like Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, macOS, Macintosh operating systems. On the surface, this game looks light heated, simple, and sweet game and you will not think that game has a deeper meaning but as you play this game you will find out that game has something more to offer.
The story of the game is really sweet it’s about a little circle that is not complete and missing a piece and he is on a quest to find a partner who will make him feel complete. The game will take you through a journey of finding the right partner and in doing so you will meet many partners in between as you roll through your quest as you do some puzzle-solving at times. This game is not a difficult one so don’t play this game thinking that this game will be tough and will challenge you will be disappointed. The game focuses more on the relaxing side but does have its moments where it will annoy you. Majorly you are in for the ride and relaxing gameplay, trying to find your soul mate while meeting a lot of other characters in between. As you play along and meet different characters you will be granted a special ability by each of them for example balloon will grant you the ability to glide and fly. Most of this game is forward momentum and speed but there are times of tricky jumps and these are sections of the game where you will get frustrated.
As you play through different worlds of the game which will take you nearly 4-6 hours to complete the main story, but there are some hidden areas to collect mushrooms which will increase your overall game time and if you can collect enough of these mushrooms you will unlock bonus levels. And these bonus levels do not affect the main story.
Graphically the game is beautiful, there are a lot of different environments that you will come across like beautiful sunsets, snowy lands, waterfalls pretty much all the cliché video game environment is in this game but all this with a good story ties well. The art style of the game is very vibrant, simple, and effective. The characters that you will meet have very nice and interesting personalities with amazing dialogues. The game has some great soundtracks and they are very relaxing. These tracks are working well for the game and they seem to pop up at the right time and its surprisingly effective soundtrack cover the fact that there aren’t any real voices in the game, so the soundtrack of the game has a lot to carry and it just fulfils that and you might like to listen to these soundtracks outside of the game. There is some gameplay issue but those are not concrete enough to spoil your experience, and this a journey that will help you relax. And the multiple themes of the game like love, friendship, heartbreak, etc. really shine very well with some great typing. You will have to make a few dialogue choices which can alter the story a bit.
