30 Characters make up the launch day roster, with only a few being new to the series. Res are directly ripped from Marvel vs Capcom 3.

All of X-Men characters are gone due to licensing issue along with Doctor Doom. All this makes the current roster seem lack luster and series key characters are missing.

Everything about Marvel vs Capcom Infinite seems cut short. Even the graphics are lacking compared to current fighting games or even previous Marvel vs Capcom Games.

The initial disappointment does fade away when you actually start playing the game.

Active Switch has been introduced as a new combat mechanic in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite which makes combat much more interesting. Heavy attacks and Light Attacks are still there along with special moves specific to every character.

Active Switch enables brining your partner into battle at any point which was not possible in any of the previous games. This allows you to continue combo with your partner or confuse the opponent. You can even switch when you are struck by a combo, this is called counter switch but you have to sacrifice your portion of meter.

There are also 6 infinity stones which provide variety of abilities. The Time Stone allows the character to perform Teleport Dash, while the Power stone enables Wall Bounce moves. When Infinity stone meter reaches its threshold, you can call in the infinity storm. The Space stone places a box around the opponent and leaves them vulnerable. Well, Soul Stone is the most useful as it brings partners back from the dead.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite contains a story mode as well as Arcade mode. The main villain of Story mode is Ultron Sigma and some Mega Man villains, who have obtained 2 infinity stones and made the Marvel and Capcom world collide. Seeing Dante and Rocket Raccoon together showing their love for firepower, or Ryu and Hulk beating the crap out of Dah’ren Mohran, is really pleasing for the fans but these series of battle enable you to experience those characters that you might not usually select.

Arcade mode is the best as it is the most tried and tested mode, with level of characters increasing as you clear stages with couple of bosses at the end. The Training mode is fairly robust, teaches you from the basics, new mechanics to 10 hit + combos.

The most fun part of the game obviously is playing against another player. Lobbies are much better than Street Fighter 5, multiple matches can take place among players currently in a single lobby, further the beginners league is a smart move which helps new comers to find their feet in this skill based game.

Auto Super Jump can be enabled which helps to continue combo while your opponent is in the air. Easy super moves can also be switched on where you can hit supers just by pressing two buttons. Auto combo helps in hitting land to air combo just by pressing light attacks. The issue here is that none of these things help a player become better at the game or even teach how to utilize assist effectively. If you are just in for the story and other offline modes, then these options help a lot but if you plan to go online, just switch these options off and hit the training mode.
