REVIEW : Moonglow Bay (PC)
Fishing is a mini-game in a lot of games. Moonglow bay is a game where you will be fishing entirely with your friends and family. It’s about interpersonal relationships with people around you. You can choose your character to your taste and then go on a fishing voyage.
Moonglow bay has a pretty good narrative, and there are many prologues. It is one of those wholesome games which are different from your regular games. These farming and life RPG games are trending, and Moonglow Bay isn’t any other than those. Instead of agriculture, you will be fishing and interacting with your neighbours and social circle. The graphics are bright and colourful, and a lot is happening in the game. Drama and emotions are constant.
The story begins with the demise of your spouse. You are alone and feel lonely with your dog at the beginning. The situations are portrayed very realistically of how a lonely man feels, and the details are immaculate. You are then visited by your daughter, who comes like a ray of hope. She brings a gift your partner left for you, and you get a mission. You and your partner’s dream was to start fishing in a new town. The town has fallen into despair. You get in contact with the town’s people and take on a mission of rebuilding it once again. The gift by your partner acts as the screen showing the goals and objectives.
Now you are keen to open a seafood restaurant with fresh fish from the bay. You get started with fishing on the shore which is difficult at first. It has a gradual learning curve, and you will get used to it. It has a day and night cycle, which affects your fishing timings and even social interactions. You catch fish, follow the recipes given by your partner, make dishes, put them in the vending machine outside your house, and earn money. This is the primary loop that you will follow throughout the game.
Fishing can be fun and varied, and you can go deep into the blue sea to find different fishes with your boat. You can even donate fish to the local aquarium and restore the beauty. You will find a lot of unlocking as you proceed, and it will be gratifying. You can even bring tourism to your town. The storytelling and concepts are very defined, and nothing happens for no reason.
