REVIEW : QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory (PC)

QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory is an adventure-themed interactive tactical card game. The title’s aesthetic elements and gaming mechanics will fascinate the gamer from the start. QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory was inspired by an appreciation for the literary work that has impacted most exceptional titles in the fantasy and adventure genre, as well as an understanding of how feeling misunderstood or out of place, can distort our vision of the world.

REVIEW : QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory (PC)

The game takes advantage of the educational aspects of the novel to make Cervantes’ work known among young people across the world. For the first time, we will see the universe of Don Quixote (and himself) with the epic and greatness that the ingenious hidalgo perceived.

If you’re unfamiliar with Early Access, this is where creators can sell a game that is still in production. It allows gamers to support the game’s development while simultaneously receiving game updates and changes. The disadvantage is that there is no certainty that the game will be completed or how long it will take. Now that that’s out of the way, allow me to ramble on about Don Quijote.

REVIEW : QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory (PC)

The plot revolves around Don Quixote’s travels. A valiant and powerful knight on the hunt for the eternal flame. To be honest, I’ve never read the book on which this title is based, but after playing this title, I’m eager to discover more. You accompany Don Quixote through the adventure, which is presented in the form of a board game.

When you enter a level, your character and NPCs appear as solid figures that move around. When you interact with adversaries, the art style changes to a more comic book style. The game contains English text but only Spanish voice acting at the moment.

The game is designed to be an interactive tactical card game. When you begin a level, you are given a primary goal, such as collecting all of your armour or eliminating all of the adversaries on the board. You draw cards every turn. To move and interact with objects in the world, you must use cards. You can also employ special cards to perform important actions such as halting opponent movement and advancing immediately behind an enemy. If you are unable to play any cards, you may discard them to obtain a better hand. More cards can also be obtained by discovering books spread throughout the level.

REVIEW : QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory (PC)

When you engage in battle with foes, you will be forced to fight in a card duel with a new deck of cards. These cards are a mix of offence and defence. In the level I played, you could see some of the cards the enemy was about to play ahead of time, allowing you to counter with a suitable card. However, one card is usually hidden, so all you have to do is guess. It’s a game where you may take your time preparing your actions, which will appeal to the more analytical gamer.

Controls are as simple as clicking on the cards you want to play and where you want to go and interact on the map. By sliding your pointer to the far left or right sides of the screen, you can also rotate the 3D level. If you fail due to a terrible hand of cards, or if you simply played the wrong one, you simply replay the level from the beginning. I had a good time, however, the game has relatively limited substance at this early level of development.

REVIEW : QUIJOTE: Quest for Glory (PC)

Quijote: Quest for Glory is perhaps one of the first Early Access games I’ve reviewed. There are currently only two levels to complete. There is no English voice acting or tutorials to teach you how to play the game. I merely figured out stuff like the game’s mechanics and camera controls by fiddling around a bit like in the old days of gaming. That makes it extremely difficult for me to express my thoughts. This game has a lot of potentials, and I hope that it gets frequent updates and develops into an outstanding turn-based experience over time.

review-quijote-quest-for-glory-pcThis game's lore appeals to me. It appears that the developers adore the novel on which it is based and wish to share it with the rest of the world. If you're willing to accept the risk, the entry fee is currently extremely low. So, if you want to help the devs and see a game grow together from the ground up, go ahead.
