REVIEW : Rayland 2 (PS5)

RayLand 2, developed by Naoka Games, is an isometric puzzle game that takes you on a journey through a world of light and reflection. The game’s premise is simple: guide lasers across various square-shaped levels using blocks that can take in and redirect the laser.

 Gameplay

The game starts off simple, with 50 levels to play through. The first 30-40 levels are rather straightforward, introducing different colored lasers and temporary barriers that only deactivate once a specific laser reaches its destination. However, the simplicity of these early levels may not appeal to those seeking a more challenging puzzle experience.

The real challenge lies in the last 10 levels of the game. These levels require more effort and strategic thinking, especially when dealing with two lasers of the same color moving to two different destinations. Despite this increase in difficulty, these levels never become too frustrating, striking a balance between challenge and enjoyment.

 Graphics and Sound

RayLand 2 features minimalist graphics that are pleasing to the eye. The use of bright colors for the lasers against the muted background colors creates a visually appealing contrast. The sound design is also noteworthy. The soft background music and satisfying sound effects add to the overall gaming experience.

 Replayability

However, RayLand 2’s appeal may be limited due to the lack of gameplay variety and the ease of the majority of the puzzles. By the time you reach the final levels of the game, you might find that you’ve exhausted the amount of fun you can have in rotating blocks and directing lasers.

 Conclusion

In conclusion, RayLand 2 offers a unique puzzle experience with its laser-guiding gameplay. While it starts off simple and gradually introduces more complex elements, it may not provide enough variety or challenge for some players. However, if you’re looking for a casual puzzle game to kill an hour or two, RayLand 2 is certainly an option worth considering.
