REVIEW : Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 (PS4)

The Division 2 is set in Washington D.C. and is of looter shooter genre, just kidding, online multiplayer RPG with third person shooting mechanics. Cover based shooting mechanics plus variety of content to keep you occupied makes The Division 2 a complete package, but that does not mean it does not have it faults.

REVIEW : Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 (PS4)

Even without the always online mechanics the game is still competent cover based third person shooter plus addition of new abilities make it a worthwhile time investment. To overcome bullet sponge problem of old game, now the enemies have shields or armor which strips away during fire fight.

The only issue with Division 2 is the addition of charging enemies as when you are in cover and the enemy comes in with a melee attack, it is hard to get out of cover and more often than not you end up taking the hit.

There are 4 factions which feature different enemy tactics. So, every faction you face you have to keep their tactics in mind and plan the attack accordingly. The end game features new faction called Black Tusk, who are well equipped mercenaries. They will attack your strong holds and feature better technology than the player.

The story though feasible is totally forgettable and it’s the gameplay mechanics that will keep you hooked. The game is set 6 months after the first game with the government totally collapsed. You can totally ignore the story and just focus on the missions if you want. Even though the story is skippable, Washington DC provides for an amazing backdrop. Traversing through the city is totally breathtaking with variety of biomes to see.

REVIEW : Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 (PS4)

The missions are huge step up from original with lot of variety to boot. Plus, the polish and detail in everything shows that the developer had ample time. The dynamic weather also adds to mission variety and is a welcome addition as it adds to the atmosphere.

Level 30 gives you perks and unlocks specialization with tech trees to select a class you want to continue playing the game as. Plus, more powerful weapons become available. Dark Zone and Conflict are both PvP zones, which is still improving with every update but it is so enjoyable.

The campaign will keep you occupied till 50 60 hours and end game offers like 20 more hours, so in short you will hooked to The Division 2 for around 100 hours.
