Meet FinalBoss and VARSAV Game Studios — The Minds Behind Gorgeous Adventure Game The Path of Calydra
Today, we’d like to introduce you to another of Brazil Games’ innovative and award-winning game studios, developer FinalBoss who are working in partnership with VARSAV Game Studios, and their stunningly vibrant adventure game, The Path of Calydra, which was shown off at this year’s Tokyo Game Show during the IGN Spotlight event.
The Path of Calydra is currently being developed on PC by FinalBoss and Varsav Game Studios, and published on Steam by Varsav Game Studios. The title will also come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch at a later date.
FinalBoss and VARSAV Game Studios are more fantastic examples of the great things happening in Brazil’s thriving games industry and a prominent member of Brazil Games — an export program created by the Brazilian Game Companies Association, ABRAGAMES, in partnership with Apex-Brasil, the Brazilian Trade, and Investment Promotion Agency.
FinalBoss is among the very first companies that specialized in the production and development of video games and applications in Brazil, currently enjoying their 14th year in the industry with a hefty 114 games and 176 projects delivered in that time. They’ve also worked with big brands like McDonald’s, Qualcomm, Square-Enix, Globosat, SKY, Xuxa Produções, Domingão do Faustão, and Caldeirão do Huck.
Working with FinalBoss to develop The Path of Calydra is VARSAV Game Studios, a Polish studio that consists of 40 team members, and have a resume that includes Bee Simulator, which won Game Connection Europe Development Awards 2018 “Best Social Game” and Indie Prize “Best Kids and Family Game”. The company is currently hard at work on its next title, Giant’s Uprising.
In the game, players hop into the shoes of Matheus, a shy and quiet boy who meets a mysterious otherworldly being named Calydra who brings him through a portal to the whimsical world of Calysgore to seek out the four crystals that contain the lost elemental magics. Built with the Unreal engine, The Path of Calydra is a beautiful adventure game with lush visuals, charming characters, and adorable creatures galore. On his journey, Matheus will gain powers that allow him to breathe underwater, fly, and gain powerful combat skills.
