After six weeks of Regular Season play, Malaysia’s strongest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) teams have arrived at the nation’s biggest stage – the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Playoffs.

From 30 May to 2 June, the top six teams in Season 13 will face off for the championship title, a slice of the USD 100,000 (~MYR 468,000) prize pool, and a chance to compete for the life-changing USD 3,000,000 (~MYR 14 million) prize pool at the Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024, held in conjunction with the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 28 June to 14 July. The Season 13 champions will earn direct qualification to the MSC 2024 Main Stage, while the first runner-up will proceed to the MSC 2024 Wild Card.

MPL Malaysia is organised by MOONTON Games and IO Esports, and supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and Esports Integrated (ESI).

Playoffs Schedule & Format

The Season 13 Playoffs will follow a hybrid elimination format. The 3rd to 6th-placed teams from the Regular Season will face off first in the Play-Ins, which will follow a single-elimination format and be played in Best-Of-Five (BO5) matches. Both winners will advance to the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals, where they will meet the 1st and 2nd-placed teams from the Regular Season. From this bracket onwards, all matches will be double-elimination and BO5, with the Grand Finals to be played in a BO7.

  • The Play-Ins will offer free entry to all, with seating in all areas (~1,000 pax seating capacity) available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Selangor Red Giants favourites, but the Homebois seek vengeance

All eyes will be on Selangor Red Giants after their record-breaking Regular Season, where they became the only team in MPL Malaysia history to not drop a single game. Despite their invincible run placing them 7 points ahead of 2nd-placed Homebois, Coach Michael “Arcadia” Angelo Bocado revealed the team is wary of being overconfident, and wants to strike a “good balance of being confident and being not complacent.” The Red Giants will make their international debut in MLBB Esports should they complete Season 13 in either 1st (MSC 2024 Main Stage) or 2nd (MSC 2024 Wild Card).

Homebois will be looking to make a quick return to the international stage after winning their first-ever MPL Malaysia title last season. The defending champions might have finished behind Selangor Red Giants in the Regular Season, but will know first-hand how placing high during the Regular Season offers no guarantees; the HomeBois finished last season’s Regular Season in 3rd place, behind RSG Malaysia and Team SMG, but overcame both in the Playoffs en route to the crown. They will also be relishing the chance to overturn their 2-0 loss to the Red Giants in the opening match of the Season 13 Regular Season.

TODAK, RSG Malaysia, Team HAQ, and King Empire Esports round out the remaining four teams competing for this season’s title.
