The three-time IGF Award nominated psychological thriller launches today on PC and Nintendo Switch
| Vancouver-based studio sunset visitor 斜陽過客 and narrative games publisher Fellow Traveller today launched 1000xRESIST on PC and Nintendo Switch. 1000xRESIST is the debut game from Sunset Visitor, an Asian-diaspora team of creators from a rich variety of backgrounds and cultural experiences. The three-time IGF Award-nominated thriller’s release coincides with the first day of LudoNarraCon 2024, a digital narrative convention that celebrates innovation in story-driven games. Set in a far future where humanity is all but extinct, 1000xRESIST follows Watcher, one of a series of ‘sisters’ cloned from the sole survivor they hail as the ALLMOTHER. On the day of Watcher’s first Communion, a process where she relives and interprets the memories of the ALLMOTHER, a horrifying revelation is forced upon her… When the weight of a thousand-year-old lie falls upon your shoulders, will you choose to unveil it, or conceal it? A dark and gripping thriller that explores existential and psychological ideas, 1000xRESIST takes players through an engrossing story with unexpected twists and turns. Its complex dystopian narrative grapples with themes of identity, racism, and intergenerational trauma, and takes inspiration from the games of Yoko Taro (NieR:Automata), the anime of Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue), and the theatre of Robert Wilson (Einstein on the Beach). 1000xRESIST was nominated for three Independent Game Festival 2024 awards; Excellence in Narrative, the Nuovo Award, and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. It offers more than 10 hours of playtime and features over 15,000 lines of fully-voiced dialogue from a talented cast of Asian-Canadian actors. 1000xRESIST is priced at US$19.99 and launches with a 10% discount that’s available until May 23. Fellow Traveller has also teamed up with Akupura Games to offer an aggressive discount if you buy 1000xRESIST and Cryptmaster together on Steam. Both games launched today in one of the busiest release weeks ever for anticipated indie games. Rather than competing with each other, the ‘Why Not Both?’ Bundle on Steam adds a 32% Bundle discount on top of the game’s existing launch discounts but is only available until 11.59pm PT on Monday May 13. |
