Today we have Hyper X Fury 240GB SSD to check out. As we know SSD are lightning fast storage devices so as expected they’re great for gaming. FURY series is not top of the Kingston’s product line, but are they good for gaming? So without any further delay, let’s check out HYPER X FURY 240GB SSD.

Kingston HyperX FURY 240GB arrived in a standard retail package so you can expect to receive the same product in any good store with computer components. On the from side of the package we can see general specification – maximum transfers of 500MB/s read and write, SSD interface and capacity which is of course 240GB. Transparent part of the package is showing us what HyperX FURY SSD looks like. On the front side there is also 3 year warranty and free technical support logo.
On the back side there is general description of the product with contact to support and once again info about three year warranty and free technical support. Inside the package there is SSD, 7 mm to 9.5 mm adapter bracket and a HyperX logo sticker. Bracket is especially handy when you wish to install 7 mm SSD in 9.5 mm drive bay.Back of the SSD looks simple without any sticker. Only solid metal plate and couple of mounting holes. Nothing interesting but also nothing is really missing here.
Now it’s time to check how HyperX FURY 240GB performs.
ATTO Disk Benchmark
As we can see on the specification and features page, maximum declared speed of HyperX FURY SSD is 500MB/s read and write. I was surprised to see maximum transfers of 556MB/s read and 536MB/s write. These speeds are simply great.
CrystalDiskMark 3
CrystalDiskMark is also showing results above declared. It’s not as big difference as we could see in ATTO but 30MB/s higher read bandwidth is for sure nice. General performance in this test is also good. Random read could be however higher but it’s nothing really to complain about.
Results achieved in these benchmarks are comparable to highest rated SSD available in the market. Overall performance of HYPER X FURY 240GB SSD is good comapred to other SSD in its price bracket, but lacks in comparison to higher priced SSDs.
Kingston HyperX FURY seems a good option for all gamers. Performance is good enough to run everything smooth while price is affordable for most users. Kingston is not hidding it’s not their highest SSD series but it doesn’t mean it’s slow. In the tests we have checked that real performance is higher than declared by Kingston reaching 556 MB/s read and 535 MB/s write bandwidth in ATTO Disk Benchmark. That’s a great result for SSD which is specified to run at maximum of 500 MB/s read and write.
240GB version of HyperX FURY is available for about RS12,500 in online stores like Flipkart. It’s not the cheapest SSD around but performance to price ratio is quite good.
HyperX FURY is available in 120GB and 240GB version. We wish to see also 480GB or higher capacity but for that Kingston has other SSD series. 120-240GB is usually enough for games for which these SSD are designed.
I also wish to see newer controller used in these SSD as SandForce SF-2281 is already old. On the bright side, Kingston engineers made really good and stable firmware for HyperX FURY so I doubt that anyone will be disappointed.
