REVIEW : Burnout Paradise Remastered (PS4/ XBOX one)

Most remaster and remakes are just resolution boost or same game in different package these days. Burnout Paradise follows the same suite with just resolution bump and better assets but that does not mean it is a bad game, Burnout Paradise is the best open world arcade racer and now it is on current generation and runs in 4K.

REVIEW : Burnout Paradise Remastered (PS4/ XBOX one)

Burnout Paradise Remaster contains all the previous DLC and runs at 60 FPS in 4k on PS4 Pro and XBOX one X. Its lot sharper than previous console release and contains a few extras over PC highest settings. But the game visually can’t compete with any of the modern racers and this is not the game you will show off your new console with. The game looks dated and colors don’t pop as the color grading is usually dark.

While the game has not aged well visually, it still is loads of fun, plus whenever you are speeding at such high speeds you won’t notice the graphical blemishes.

Burnout Paradise is just plain simple fun, get from point A to point B as fast as you can and destroying as many opponents as you can. It features so much variety with different race types, different junkyards, different billboards and collectibles that you will be occupied for a long time.

To start a race, just pull up at a red light and rev your engine. Plus, there are the collectibles which are so fun to smash through but not as easy to get to.

The overall Burnout Paradise simplicity extends to the races as well, there are no road barriers to get you to the finish line, you can get to it any way you feel like. Only the blinkers and street signs to help you move towards the flag.

Burnout Paradise cars are fun to drive and all of them weight so that they feel like a car but each of them is as agile as RC car so that even a slightest touch will have you drifting.

Burnout Paradise does not have fast travel to move from one area of map to another but that is its biggest strength, you can reach the area any way you like, at any speed you like with as many jumps as you like. It is so much fun to even drive aimlessly.

You have to travel to the junkyard to get new vehicles or to change any vehicle. Since some races are tailored for a certain car you have to change car at the junkyard but you cannot jump into a junkyard straight away, you have to travel to a junkyard which takes away some of the fun.

The game lacks a quick restart option which is a bummer since any wrong turn can completely destroy your race. A quick restart button or a rewind button would be really handy in such scenarios.

Burnout Paradise features over 150 cars and many challenges which are all unlocked from the start. This adds to the fun as now you can try any vehicle you like in all these different challenges.

The soundtrack in Burnout Paradise is the best you will find in any arcade racer. The soundtrack just blends in with the high-speed races. The audio is top notch as it has been always.
