Today, Active Fungus Studios releases its debut title, the historical detective RPG A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen, on PC via Steam. The game is now available with a 10% discount for the price of 13.49 EUR. In A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen you take on the role of Valentin Schmidt, a young surveyor sent to the tranquil village of Wolpertshofen in Upper Bavaria in 1866 on behalf of the Bavarian crown. Your detective skills are put to the test when a cruel and mysterious death shakes the village community and plunges you into an adventure.

Wolpertshofen – An idyllic village or a den of iniquity? In A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen, players are transported back to historical Bavaria in 1866 as they take on the role of surveyor Valentin Schmidt. At first, Wolpertshofen seems like a peaceful, provincial village, but it soon becomes clear that appearances are deceiving. The idyllic village turns out to be a facade for a hidden world full of dark secrets and inexplicable events. The residents are on edge, and a dark secret hovers over the community. Valentin must figure out who he can trust and who will lead him on a false trail, and protect himself from those who want to forcefully stop him from completing his job.

Where story and gameplay go hand-in-hand. Using skill checks in the classic pen-and-paper style, you are completely free to decide what to level up. As an investigator, your goal is to find hidden clues and collect valuable evidence that will help to drive the plot forward.  Within the story of A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen, tricky decisions await that can influence the investigation, one way or another. The challenges Valentin must face can be approached in different ways. Will he rely on his charm during an interrogation? Will he try to find a diplomatic solution to get information? Or does he simply let evidence slip away on the sly? In a tricky situation, Valentin can also defend himself against adversaries with his bare hands… Or he retreats with his tail between his legs.

Bavarian flair – even in the dialogues. A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen is not simply set in Bavaria, the game exudes genuine Bavarian charm. The characters are voiced by real Bavarians – and, of course, the dialect isn’t missing. Besides the original Bavarian voice work, you also have the option to switch to English with a Bavarian accent. But don’t worry – German and English subtitles are included as well. The dialogues are not only lovely to listen to but also interactive.
