From Tabletop to Tablet: Beamdog announces  Axis & Allies 1942 Online coming soon to iPads

Video game developer Beamdog just announced yet another tablet title for their catalogue of cross-platform apps: the digital board game Axis & Allies 1942 Online will launch to tablets this year.   Coming first to iPads, the tablet version of the classic strategy game will be available for $9.99 USD from the App Store, with full cross-play support for iPadOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux. The Android tablet release will arrive later in 2021, launching to the Google Play Store at the same price, and with full cross-play support.   Although the game first released to Steam for PCs, Beamdog CEO, Trent Oster said tablets have been part of the plan from the start:
“I started this whole project to play Axis & Allies on my tablet,” said Oster. “The team did a fantastic job reimagining the tabletop game for touch screens. I love the fact that I can start up a game on Steam tonight, then grab five minutes at lunch tomorrow to take my next turn on my iPad.”
Originally released to Steam Early Access in July 2019, Axis & Allies 1942 Online is an official digital adaptation of Avalon Hill’s tabletop classic, Axis & Allies 1942 Second Edition— a turn-based strategy game in which players act as World War II powers on either side of the conflict: the United States, United Kingdom, and Soviet Union make up the Allies, while Germany and Japan form the Axis.   Oster confirmed that all major features and game modes in the Steam release will also be available on tablets, including offline games in single player and hot seat modes, online multiplayer for up to five people, and competitive one-on-one matches in ranked seasons. Player accounts will sync across devices, so players can switch between platforms to take turns, view their statistics, and create games.
Axis & Allies 1942 Onlinewill arrive on iPads this summer and is available now on Steam for $19.99 USD as an Early Access title.
