Aloy’s next journey begins with Horizon Forbidden West, which will be released on PS5 next month. Set half a year after the happenings of Horizon Zero Dawn, the show’s star is once again going west to save the Earth from unknown perils. Expect more of this in edition two of Aloy’s death-defying journey, this time with new guns, powers, companions, foes, and, horrors, robotic dinosaur monsters, as laid forth in the first game.
While the release date for Horizon Forbidden West was set for late last year, Sony and developer Guerilla Games put it back to February 2022 to ensure that the game released is the best it can be. If that’s the case, only time will tell, but Horizone Forbidden West looks promising.
Horizon Forbidden West game designer Mathijs de Jonge said during Gamescom Premiere Night Live 2021 that the future adventure will now be released on February 18, 2022. If you really want to experience Horizon Forbidden West when it gets released, you’ll need a PS5 for the time being. Though its forerunner, Horizon Zero Dawn, is currently available on PC, there are no assurances that Horizon Forbidden West would continue in its footsteps.
To put some minds at ease, just because for first AAA title is coming to PC doesn’t mean that every title will follow suit.” Director of PlayStation Worldwide Studios Herman Hulst commented at the time. “Horizon Zero Dawn, in my opinion, was a perfect fit for this situation. The Pullcaster allows her to ascend faster and get out of difficulty faster; the Shieldwing enables her to securely fall from tremendous heights (or surprise opponents from above); and the Diving Mask allows her to explore the whole new underground life. Not to mention significant improvements to her Concentration, which now reveals locations where she may free-climb and allows her to control more vehicles for mounts or fighting. In an appearance with GamesRadar, story director Ben McCaw revealed that “the great, vast bulk of the game occurs in the Forbidden West,” alluding to the possibility of small chunks of the game taking place elsewhere.
Between games, Aloy has devoted the six months getting treatment for the Red Blight, a symptom that the planet’s ecology is failing. She’s now in the Forbidden West, where she’ll meet up with her supporters, including best boy Erend, for the next phase of her plot.
