PLAYISM is proud to announce that we will be publishing Refind Self: The Personality Test Game, a new adventure game by solo indie developer Lizardry, which will release on Steam, Google Play, and the App Store in November, 2023.

At the time of this announcement, we have also published the Steam page for the first time, so please take a look and add the game to your wishlist!

Moreover, Refind Self will have a playable demo available to play at the PLAYISM booth at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2023 (September 21–24)! Please stop by to try it out if you have the chance.

Games can really show someone’s personality, don’t you think?

All players approach games in varied ways, making different choices. No one ever plays in exactly the same way. Indeed, how a person plays can be an indicator of their personality.

By way of a simple exploration-based adventure about the story of an android, this data-science game analyzes your actions to estimate your personality and even compare it with other players.
Story
You are an android. The world is populated by robots in various forms, created for numerous purposes.

Travel to places key to your memories of your creator the Doctor, interact with the robots, and unravel the secrets behind the future the Doctor sought and what you were entrusted with.
How to Play
Go wherever you feel like, converse, investigate, play minigames… Simply play as you please. There are no game overs, and there’s no right or wrong way to progress.
With each action you take, your personality will be analyzed. Once analysis is 100% complete… Congratulations, you’ve beaten the game! Your personality results will then be revealed.

If you want to know more about your personality, you can go back to play again and again. Of course, this also goes for those who want to know the truth of the story.
Your test results are stored in an online database, and you’ll be issued a unique results ID. You can share your results ID, and view others’ results to compare them with your own.

Perhaps similar personalities mean good compatibility? That’s another way of having fun with your results.
About the Developer – Lizardry
After working as a director at a social-network game company, Lizardry went indie and became a solo indie game creator.

His first one-time-purchase commercial game, 7 Days to End with You received great critical acclaim, getting 2nd place for the Game Designer Award in the Japan Game Awards 2022. It was also featured on many popular video game streaming channels, and the let’s play video posted by the Yuru Gengogaku Channel received the Grand Prize for the Indie Game Let’s Play Awards.

Lizardry gives shape to unique and original ideas with the freedom that only comes with being a solo developer, and aims to make games that are unlike any other.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game is one such game based on the age-old question: Can games really show someone’s personality? This game sets out to answer this question by turning it into a full-fledged game.
Playable Demo at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2023!
We will be showing a playable demo for Refind Self: The Personality Test Game at the PLAYISM booth at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2023!

Unlike the full game, the demo will determine and reveal your personality test results after playing for a fixed amount of time. The demo also does not include the function to share and/or compare your results with others.

Those who play the demo for Refind Self will receive a roll of specially-designed washi tape, which features the personality icons you can find in the game!*

*While inventory lasts
We will also be holding an exclusive campaign on X (former Twitter) only for people who have played the demo at the event, so please stop by our booth to try out the demo!
