REVIEW : Fantasy of Expedition (PC)

It’s time to take a look at Fantasy of Expedition which is a roguelike strategic adventure game. This game is developed and published by LWC and Milk bottle studio. The game was released for different operating systems like Microsoft Windows, macOS, Macintosh operating systems. In the game, the players have to lead a heaven-mandated expedition to recover a lost artifact.

REVIEW : Fantasy of Expedition (PC)

Players have to take control of one of five classes with three being available from the start of the game which are the slayer, the shamaka and, the yard of assert. while all three are essentially the same they have the distinct spark of being deranged magic or melee-focused character. First, you have to select the hero after selecting the hero you have to choose from the 3 alignments light, dark and, nature. Each of the alignments comes with specific troop types and you will be rewarded with an added combat bonus for using troops of the same type of alignment. Though players are free to use troops of different alignments I think you will be better off playing with troops of your chosen alignment. Players can upgrade their troops once they have 3 of the same alignment to a more powerful version of troops which will push the game into your favour. As you start to play the game you will be given a choice of different paths and you have to pick one of them. Along with the map, you will go on defeating enemies, looting the chest, and resting at various points. You will keep on moving along a procedural path where either you will find the end of the road or end up in battle and more likely you will end up in the battle the first few times as the game is quite difficult. Combat is one of the strong suits of the game throughout the journey you will encounter many enemies and you will engage in battle with them by commanding your army towards the enemies. Being the main hero your character has 3  moves depending upon your energy level whereas your army just has to be directed at the enemy and they will auto-attack.

REVIEW : Fantasy of Expedition (PC)

Every unit in the game has a unique ability that they will perform at random times during combat. Healers will attack from a distance and heal your allies, while range units will stand at a distance and attack, and stringer tank units will attack up close. It’s up to you to choose the correct units, buy upgrades, and layout the right combat formation in the right design to clear the forever expanding path in front of you.  After each level you will be rewarded with gold which can be used wither to recruit new units or purchase upgrades. Usually upgrade will give you a bonus to your defense or attack. What is nice is that any fallen allies can be resurrected at the cost of gold and this makes the journey a little bit easier. And in the case where all your units are fallen, you can try again or start the game again which I think is better if you want to play the game correctly. the game does provide an option to change the difficulty as you like but initially, the game is quite difficult and it will challenge you at every step, you can make the game crazy difficult or as casual as you want. Even with the base settings, many players will find it difficult to play.

REVIEW : Fantasy of Expedition (PC)

Coming on to the graphics and presentation i wasn’t very impressed with it. Normally i like pixel art games and retro aesthetics but the fantasy of expedition fails to impress or make an impact on players. While the visuals don’t ruin the complete experience of the game but they didn’t do anything to help either. At times when you have so many characters on screen, you will find it difficult to differentiate between friends or foe and this will ruin your chances to win the battle. Also, the sound effects of the game don’t make any impact either. It’s not very impressive and needs a lot of work. I think developers need to do some work on the presentation.

review-fantasy-of-expedition-pcTo sum up, even with all the issues mentioned above I found the game fun and challenging i would recommend this game if you want to challenge your abilities and test your limits. Currently, the game is priced at Rs 349 and I think the price of the game is justified. So do try this game and test your limits you might finish this game sooner than me if you do try playing this game at a higher difficulty.
