REVIEW : Finding the Soul Orb (XBOX Series X)

The Soul Orb was made by elite wizards, and it was beneficial to the kingdom. Alexander must now locate it there where it is hiding. Alexander hears it calling in his dreams.

A fantasy mediaeval game is called Finding the Soul Orb. In it, you utilise your crossbow as a tool to solve riddles as well as a weapon against werewolves. It is a twelve-chapter narrative-driven game.

REVIEW : Finding the Soul Orb (XBOX Series X)

A picturesque route through a fantastic tale of werewolves and wizards

With every new game he produces, Tonguc’s style of narrative storytelling through his exquisitely realistic and fantastical environments is distinct and painstakingly created. This novel follows several individuals as they struggle with their community being attacked by werewolves and neighbours, corruption, and a dash of magic.

With each successive release, he continues to experiment and incorporate new features. Combat is introduced for the first time but in a more simplified, fundamental form. It was a positive step, and I hope he builds on it and exploits his newfound understanding in games to come.

There were many puzzles strewn about, most of which included using your crossbow for some other purpose outside of actual battle. This gave the weapon some additional purpose beyond simply killing any werewolf that got in your way. To break up the monotony of following a linear path, some puzzles required a little more dexterity, which I thought was a clever notion and implemented in most of his games.

Positives

+ Wonderful environment. From dismal and dark to calm and tranquil.

+ A variety of musical soundtracks that smoothly switched between chapters and combat/exploring.

+ A chapter selection that enables you to return for accomplishments or even screenshots in a particular section you enjoyed.

+ Chapters and a clear direction. But because of the thoughtfully positioned plot fragments, I didn’t feel the need to stray.

Negatives

– if you keep a good gap between yourself and the werewolf, you can kill them without them noticing you. As long as you keep this distance, they won’t respond to any arrows being fired at them. The fighting felt less refined as a result, although it did make the game easier to complete.

– There was no element of surprise because the bow automatically drew when an adversary or object of interest came into view. The bow would be holstered when no one was nearby.

– I thought some of the sentences and phrases were a touch awkward and kind of detracted from the more serious tone.

review-finding-the-soul-orb-xbox-series-xI played through to the very end since the plot was so captivating. I've played every game Tongue has released before, and I'll happily keep playing any new games they make. The tone, images, and ingenuity used throughout are all highly amusing.
