REVIEW : Onimusha: Warlords (XBOX One X)
Onimusha Warlords has been remastered (ported!) for this generation consoles so that new gamers can experience this cult classic.
The game is set in feudal Japan with a conflict going on between Nobunaga who has captured your princess Yuki. Nobunaga has also cut a deal with the demons to raise the dead and has created an army of monsters. You play as Samanosuke, cousin of Yuri who is a master samurai. Samanosuke has to save Yuri along with the help of Kaede, the ninja sidekick.
The story though clichéd is still enjoyable due to the awesome gameplay. Gameplay will keep you hooked to the game even though the story is shallow at best.
Onimusha Warlords has 3 dimensional levels with static cameras, which causes issues when fighting horde of monsters. You will be fighting masters ninja and monsters and the camera does not help when difficulty increases.
You have magical and physical attacks to tackle the foes. Slash, stab and Block are the basic moves you can do with blade and magic involves more elemental attacks which deal greater damage with use magic energy. You can absorb souls of monsters to increase your stats.
The game is just 5 hours long and even though the game is just ported over, the game is still vibrant but looks dated. The latest release features new textures and 16:9 aspect ratio.
Onimusha Warlords one of the best sound tracks and background music is on point. Throughout the 5 hours you will be fueled with adrenalin pumping music.
