REVIEW : Coriolis: Emissary Lost

Coriolis: Emissary Lost is the first part of an epic campaign for the Coriolis RPG. The adventure revolves around a conspiracy that is a little convoluted, involving agents of the First Horizon, religious zealots, and the Astûrban. The conspiracy centers around an operation to smuggle mystics off of Coriolis and onto Kua by a group of zealots.

While the adventure is solid, it is not without its flaws. One issue is that it goes out of its way to get players to ditch or lose their spaceship in favor of local transportation or walking. This can feel like railroading and may frustrate players who want to use their ship to circumvent parts of the adventure.

Another issue is the use of the Leave No Witnesses trope. In this case, an assassin tries to kill all those who know about the slave smuggling operation at the heart of the conspiracy. However, slavery isn’t actually illegal in the Conglomerate, so the only people who need to be killed to protect the conspiracy are those involved in the money and data trail.

Despite these issues, Emissary Lost is still a good adventure. It offers plenty of opportunities for players to engage in intrigue and investigation as they unravel the layers of the conspiracy. The setting and atmosphere are well-realized, immersing players in the world of Coriolis.

In conclusion, while not perfect, Coriolis: Emissary Lost is a solid start to an epic campaign. It offers plenty of intrigue and excitement for players, and with some tweaks to address its flaws, it can be a truly great adventure.

Overall, I would recommend Coriolis: Emissary Lost to fans of the Coriolis RPG and those looking for a science fiction adventure with plenty of intrigue and mystery.
